about my health and fitness journey and

some of you may know I’ve decided to put

my channel in a different direction I

kind of want to focus more on healthy

lifestyle and also fitness videos and I

thought this just kind of makes sense to

talk about now because in 2016 I quit
00:16
smoking last year I quit drinking
00:17
alcohol and I just wanted to update you
00:19
guys where I’m at in 2016 that’s when I
00:21
also started doing workouts consistently
00:23
all year round and I did that in 2017
00:26
and going into this year as well yes
00:28
I’ve hit a couple bumps in the road
00:29
there have been weeks where I only ended
00:31
up doing like two workouts that week and
00:33
that was it I think around the holidays
00:35
that’s also difficult to try to maintain
00:37
your workout routines but I feel like
00:40
I’ve done fairly well so I want to show

you guys before and after photos and one
00:44
of the photos that you probably just saw

was the before and that’s when I was
00:48
drinking beer on the weekends
00:50
specifically beer I liked dark beer and
00:52
I would drink that on the weekends and
00:54
this is when I started working out in

yeah I would work out during the week

and on the weekends I would drink and

when you’re trying to have like fitness

drinking alcohol just really does not

help that’s not the number one reason

drinking especially beer beers like the

worst when it comes to you know trying

to get fit and you know just back in

shape and now on top of that I was still

smoking so that combination and trying

to get fit just it doesn’t work very

well so the first thing I wanted to do

was quit smoking cigarettes because I

hated what it was doing to my body

that’s the number one thing is I’ve just

been more focused on being healthier and

that’s the number one reason why I kind

of wanted to do this video is I have
01:37
recently realized over the last couple
01:39
years and healthy and I’m taking
01:42
advantage of that health and I don’t
01:43
want to do that anymore I am so grateful

that I have a healthy body and in the
01:48
future I may not be able to say that but
01:50
today and now I can at least appreciate
01:53
what I have and I can focus on healthy

lifestyle choices I am choosing to
01:59
workout I’m choosing to eat the right

foods and I’m choosing to not smoke I’m
02:03
choosing to not drink and the number one
02:06
reason is just for my health mentally

emotionally

physically some kind of going all over

the place in this video bear with me but

the number one thing with all these

decisions that I’m making is just to

become healthier and I’m again I’m just

very appreciative of just having a
02:20
healthy body I feel like that’s

something that’s taken for granted every

day if you don’t stop and think about it

Wow look at where you’re at now and what

you do have it’s pretty amazing and I

just want to take care of myself better

and I really want to share that journey

on my channel and this has definitely

been a process I think something that’s

helped me out the most probably is if I

went through a week and I didn’t get as

many workouts in as I wish I would have

something that I’ll tell myself is just
02:46
to keep going and get back into the
02:48
schedule that ain’t ended if the
02:50
schedule isn’t working I need to change
02:52
some things but I need to get back into
02:53
my schedule because that’s when things
02:55
just really work I feel stronger I feel
02:57
more motivated I feel like I just stick

with the schedule really well that just
03:01
really helps me so fast forward to now I

actually drank alcohol on New Year’s Eve

and also New Year’s Day and I was really
03:08
paying attention to how I felt while I
03:10
was drinking alcohol and just kind of
03:12
figuring out if I even wanted to drink
03:14
any more at all or ever I quit drinking
03:18
alcohol a few months ago so going into
03:20
not drinking at the beginning I said
03:21
well I’ll probably drink something on
03:23
New Year’s if I drink at all if I drink
03:25
ever at all it’ll probably be like
03:27
something New Year’s I don’t know so I
03:29
ended up drinking on New Year’s Eve and
03:31
also New Year’s Day and I just wanted to
03:33
pay attention to how I was feeling as I
03:34
was drinking alcohol and to be honest I
03:37
just feel like it’s just not for me like
03:39
I don’t know how to describe it other
03:41
than I love the way I feel without
03:43
alcohol for all of the benefits that I
03:46
listed in my video where I mentioned you
03:48
know hey I quit drinking in these this
03:50
is why I just feel like I I don’t need
03:52
it in my life I guess like even if I
03:54
just have a little bit with dinner or
03:56
something or if I were to do that it’s
03:58
not something I need at all like I know

it’s not benefiting me in any way it’s
04:02
kind of honestly something I’ve just
04:04
forgotten about it in a way like I know
04:06
it’s there and I know it’s in front of
04:07
my face like when you go to a restaurant

or when you’re hanging out with friends

who are drinking like yeah it’s right
04:12
there but it’s something I don’t it’s
04:13
not something I need and it’s not even
04:15
something I crave anymore I noticed this

is the same thing

and these are the same feelings I had

when I quit smoking cigarettes it’s just
04:21
something I forgot about and when it was
04:24
in front of my face I was just like I
04:26
don’t I don’t really want that
04:27
I didn’t crave it I just didn’t desire
04:30
it anymore it’s kind of how I’m feeling
04:31
with alcohol so you know what I’m gonna
04:33
keep this going who knows I might be
04:34
like Russell Brand and just not drink
04:36
alcohol anymore ever which doesn’t sound
04:39
bad at all I think when other people
04:41
start chiming in their opinions or they
04:43
keep asking like are you drinking or not
04:45
drinking I think that kind of says more
04:47
about their relationship with alcohol
04:48
than it does with mine I feel like when
04:50
I was smoking and drinking and
04:51
especially I had a lot of anxiety and
04:54
now that has gone down so much I still
04:56
do get anxiety and I do want to make a
04:59
video all about anxiety and how to deal

with it in ways you can just kind of
05:03
defeat your anxiety I still do feel some
05:05
anxiety but that was a big thing that
05:07
was a much bigger thing than it is now
05:09
now it doesn’t like overtake my life
05:10
anymore like it did but when I think
05:12
just reflecting about my health and
05:14
fitness journey I just like the steps
05:16
forward I’m taking I love that I quit
05:18
smoking I love that I quit drinking

alcohol I love that I have been
05:22
consistently working out for now over a
05:25
year and a half just focusing on cardio
05:27
on strength on core like doing all that
05:31
hit training part of my health and
05:32
fitness journey has also been talking to
05:34
a therapist once a week and I hate it
05:36
when people look at that as such a
05:38
negative thing because how is that
05:40
negative I feel like talking to a
05:41
therapist is sometimes looked down upon
05:43
and I want to talk about this more so
05:47
that the more you expose something and
05:49
the more you break it apart the more
05:50
people can see oh well this is actually
05:52
a good thing it’s not a bad thing or
05:54
it’s not something that’s I don’t know I
05:56
feel like if everybody got to talk to a
05:57
therapist like you wouldn’t make the
05:59
world so much better and there’s so many
06:01
different kinds of therapy as well and
06:02
you can’t push therapy on anyone but
06:04
it’s something that has just worked for
06:06
me I think it’s important to take care
06:07
of your mind and your body one of the
06:09
things that I thought was interesting
06:10
was when I quit drinking alcohol I
06:12
thought I would instantly become like
06:14
superhuman I thought I’d be able to get
06:16
all my projects done on time I would you
06:18
know never make mistakes everything
06:20
would be like more perfect and you know
06:22
what it’s life it’s not gonna be perfect
06:24
it’s not gonna be great every day so

that’s kind of something I’ve reflected

on I’m like you know what I’m not soup
06:30
what is super
06:31
human anyway I like sticking to a
06:32
schedule that makes me feel awesome
06:34
about myself or awesome about my life

like just being able to stick with
06:38
workouts I’m learning Spanish in French
06:40
you know I work from home I worked for
06:43
myself I loved that I picked up the
06:45
guitar again I started knitting again
06:47
getting into photography and creating my
06:50
own Etsy shop my book club is really fun

she definitely join it if you’re not
06:53
already I have a couple podcasts they
06:55
have like all these things going on but
06:57
I thought I oh when I quit drinking
06:59
alcohol like totally I’ll be able to

manage all those things super well you
07:02
know I’m juggling so much and just
07:04
trying to balance it all is a challenge

but it’s a fun challenge and I like
07:08
doing it anyway that’s besides the point

yes I think it’s important to take care

of your mind and your body because I
07:13
feel like that’s the best form of
07:14
self-care is like exercising and
07:17
expressing your thoughts and your
07:18
feelings and yes I advocate therapy I
07:21
love therapy and there’s all different
07:22
kinds of therapy but I can’t not mention
07:26
that in this video because that’s been a
07:28
big part of my journey so going into
07:30
2018 I just kind of want to stick with
07:32
this because it’s what’s working for me
07:34
and I might change things here every
07:37
once well I might change up my workouts
07:39
of course cuz it’s fun to do different

things and challenge yourself in
07:43
different ways but this has been my
07:44
fitness and health journey and yeah I
07:47
just want to keep moving forward I want

to keep doing better and keep improving

and keep challenging myself so I hope

to be able to walk away from things that

are not adding to your life and if

you’re struggling if you’re wanting to

do the same kind of thing I just want to

let you know that it is possible and to

keep hope be hopeful and keep working at

it no one’s perfect and you might quit

smoking and you might you know go back

to it but the important thing to do I

think is to quit know why you’re

quitting and keep reminding yourself why

you’re quitting and all the reasons list

all the reasons why you’re quitting and

list all the benefits of quitting or if
08:42
you’re wanting to get into a workout
08:43
routine

the same thing lists like all the
08:46
reasons why you want to work out and all
08:48
the benefits of working out so I guess
08:49
this video is a personal challenge I’m
08:52
challenging you guys if you’re wanting
08:53
to quit a bad habit or just a habit you
08:55
don’t like or if you’re wanting to
08:56
challenge yourself and do something new
08:58
and start doing workouts or if you’re

wanting to start getting into something

else like some hobby or anything I just

encourage you to do that because it’ll

make you feel amazing you never know

where that hobby or whatever might lead

you I never really thought I would make

videos on quitting smoking but I’ve made

like 3 of them now I want to do more of

those kind of videos or videos on you

I’m quitting drinking alcohol all that
